甲：凯罗尔，听说你和汤姆订婚了，是真的吗？
jiǎ : kǎi luó ěr , tīng shuō nǐ hé tāng mǔ dìng hūn le , shì zhēn de ma ？
乙：绝对是真的。
yǐ : jué duì shì zhēn de .
甲：恭喜你们！那么你们什么时候计划结婚呢？
jiǎ : gōng xǐ nǐ mén ！ nà me nǐ mén shén me shí hòu jì huá jié hūn ne ？
乙：嗯，对我来说是越快越好。没有理由再拖了。

甲：汤姆什么态度？
jiǎ : tāng mǔ shén me tai dù ？
乙：他听我的。

A: Carol, I heard you and Tom were engaged. Is that true?
B: Absolutely.
A: Congratulatons! Then, when do you plan to get married?
B: Well, to me, the sooner, the better. There is no reason to delay.
A: What about Tome? What does he think aobut it?
B: He is with me.
Dialogue 2
甲：玛莎，你什么时候能校对*完剧本？
jiǎ : mǎ shā , nǐ shén me shí hòu néng jiào duì wán jù běn ？
乙：你什么时间要？
yǐ : nǐ shén me shí jiān yào ？
甲：越快越好。我得在2点之前把胶片送到印刷厂去。
jiǎ : yuè kuài yuè hǎo . wǒ děi zài liǎng diǎn zhī qián bǎ jiāo piàn sòng dào yìn shuā chǎng qù .
乙：知道啦。我很快就校对完了。
yǐ : zhī dào lā . wǒ hěn kuài jiù jiào duì wán le .
A: Martha, when can you finish proofreading the script?
B: When do you need it?
A: The sooner, the better. I'll have to send the film to the printing house before 2 o'clock.
B: Got it. I'll get it done very soon.
* tip: 校对
校 can be pronounced as xiào and jiào. When it means 'to check, to proofread' it is jiào; when means 'school' or 'ranks in the army' it is xiào, for examples: 校长 xiào cháng; 上校 shàng xiào.
Dialogue 3
甲：你开始申请护照了吗？
jiǎ : nǐ kāi shǐ shēn qǐng hù zhào le ma ？
乙：没有。我不着急。
yǐ : méi yǒu . wǒ bù zháo jí .
甲：得了。你最好现在就行动起来。越快越好。
jiǎ : dé le . nǐ zuì hǎo xiàn zài jiù xíng dòng qǐ lái . yuè kuài yuè hǎo .
乙：好吧。我听你的。
yǐ : hǎo bā . wǒ tīng nǐ de .
A: Have you started to apply for your passport?
B: No. I'm not in a hurry.
A: Come on. You'd better do it now. The sooner, the better.
B: All right. I'll follow your advice.
