Structures of Chinese Characters: the Compound Characters (Part Four)

In this lesson, we will continue with the compound characters of enclosed structure. Please note that in some of the characters, not all strokes are shown one by one, because these have been shown in our former lessons.

3. Enclosed Structure (包围结构) (Part Two)

2). Enclosed on three sides. This can be subdivided into the three followings:

a). Enclosed from left, top and right sides, like the picture shows:

For example: "风" and "同".

风 (fēng, wind)

同 (tóng, same)

b). Enclosed from top, left and bottom sides, liek the picture shows:

For example: "区" and "医".

区 (qū, district)

医 (yī, medical)

c). Enclosed from left, bottom and right sides, like the picture shows:

For example: "画 (huà, means picture)"

3). Enclosed on four sides, like the picutre shows:

For example: "国" and "因".

国 (guó, country)

因 (yīn, cause)
