Structures of Chinese Characters: the Compound Characters (Part Five)
In this lesson, we will continue with the compound characters of three components. Most Chinese characters are of either left-right or top-bottom structure. But there are characters that are composed of three components, which can be described as of left-middle-right structure and top-middle-bottom structure.
Please note that in these characters, not all strokes are shown one by one, because these have been shown in our former lessons.
1.Top-Middle-Bottom Structure (上中下结构
). The structure of a character is like the picture shows:
For example: "意", "爱" and "高".
意 (yì, meaning)
爱 (ài, love)
高 (gāo, tall)
2. Left-Middle-Right Structure (左中右结构
). The structure of a character is like the picture shows:
For example: "意", "爱" and "高". 
For example: "准", "谢" and "做".
