ChineseLearner.com is a free Chinese learning website. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep this simple because we do not run accounts, process payments, or store sensitive personal information.
1. What data we collect
Email address (newsletter subscribers only)
If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address. You provide this voluntarily — browsing the site does not require and does not capture your email. Email addresses are stored by our email service provider, Resend (see Third-Party Services below).
Analytics data (all visitors)
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how people use the site — which pages are visited, how long people stay, what devices they use, and broad geographic region. GA4 collects this via cookies and does not give us your name, email, or precise location. The data is anonymised and aggregated.
2. How we use your data
- Email address: to send you the ChineseLearner.com newsletter with learning tips, new content, and site updates. We do not sell, rent, or share your email with any third party for marketing.
- Analytics data: to understand which tools and content are most useful so we can improve them. We do not use GA4 data to identify individuals.
- We do not build advertising profiles, run remarketing campaigns, or pass your data to data brokers.
3. Third-party services

Google Analytics is operated by Google LLC. It places cookies on your browser to track usage patterns. Google may process your data on servers in the United States and other countries. You can opt out of GA4 tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
Resend (email delivery)
Newsletter emails are sent via Resend, an email infrastructure provider. If you subscribe, your email address is stored in Resend's systems. Resend does not use your address for any purpose other than delivering emails on our behalf. Resend's privacy policy is at resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.
4. Cookies
We use cookies only for Google Analytics. We do not use advertising cookies, session cookies for login, or any tracking cookies beyond GA4. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. If you block cookies, site functionality is not affected — we do not gate any content behind cookie acceptance.
5. Your rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time — every email includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom.
- Request deletion of your email address from our systems — email us and we will remove it within 30 days.
- Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the browser add-on linked above.
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you also have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or UK GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
6. Data retention
We retain your email address for as long as you are subscribed to the newsletter. If you unsubscribe or request deletion, we remove your address promptly. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months (the minimum GA4 allows) and is automatically deleted thereafter.
7. Children's privacy
ChineseLearner.com is a general-audience site. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with their email address, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.
