Terms of Service
Effective: April 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of ChineseLearner.com. By accessing the site, you agree to these terms. The site is free to use — there are no accounts, subscriptions, or purchases required to access the core learning content.
1. What ChineseLearner.com is
ChineseLearner.com provides free educational content for people learning Mandarin Chinese — including pinyin charts, stroke order animations, vocabulary lists, grammar guides, HSK exam preparation materials, and speaking phrasebooks.
The content is provided for personal, non-commercial learning purposes. It is not a substitute for formal language instruction, certified exam preparation courses, or professional translation services.
2. No warranty
ChineseLearner.com is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantees that the content is complete, error-free, or up to date at all times.
While we strive for accuracy — particularly in HSK vocabulary lists and pinyin — languages evolve and exam standards change. If you spot an error, please let us know at [email protected]. We review and correct reported errors promptly.
3. No accounts or purchases
ChineseLearner.com does not require you to create an account or log in. We do not process payments or store financial information. The optional newsletter subscription involves only your email address — see our Privacy Policy for details.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically download site content using automated tools without prior written permission.
- Reproduce, republish, or redistribute our content — including vocabulary lists, grammar guides, audio files, or phrasebook entries — on another site or platform without attribution and a link back to the original page.
- Use the site in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its performance for other users.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its underlying systems.
- Use the site to distribute spam, malware, or harmful content.
Personal, non-commercial use — including sharing links, quoting short excerpts with attribution, and using content for your own study — is always welcome.
5. Intellectual property
All original content on ChineseLearner.com — including written articles, grammar explanations, curated vocabulary lists, audio recordings, animations, and site design — is owned by ChineseLearner.com and protected by copyright.
Chinese characters, pinyin romanisation, and standard vocabulary definitions are not copyrightable and are in the public domain. Our particular selection, arrangement, and annotation of those elements is our original work.
6. Third-party links
ChineseLearner.com contains links to external sites — including language learning apps, textbooks, and exam resources — some of which may be affiliate links. We link only to products and services we genuinely recommend. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party site.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChineseLearner.com and its operators will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its content. This includes, without limitation, any errors in learning materials or exam preparation guidance.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of ChineseLearner.com after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
